Nominations for school elections at a substantial increase

MONTREAL, Sept. 30 /CNW Telbec/ - The Quebec English School Boards
Association (QESBA) is pleased to announce that at the close of nominations
for the November 4 school elections there will be 61 elections held province
wide in English school boards. "That represents a 28% overall increase from
2003," said QESBA President, Marcus Tabachnick.
In 2003, the English system held 47 elections out of a possible 161 and
there were four wards unfilled. November 4 we will be tracking 61 elections
out of a possible 161 with a total of 229 candidates, with two wards unfilled.
"The profile of school elections and underlining the importance of our
democratic system has been a major focus for QESBA," said Tabachnick. "We feel
that our efforts show in the results we have tonight."
