- Foundation Celebrates 15 Year Anniversary with Continued Support for
Seniors' Organizations Across Canada -
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Aug. 6 /CNW/ - Nissan Canada Inc. (NCI) will mark the
15th anniversary of the Nissan Canada Foundation with a donation of 51
vehicles to charitable partners across the country.
"The Foundation has a long-standing history of support for seniors in our
communities across Canada," said Mark Grimm, President, Nissan Canada Inc. "We
are pleased to help make a difference for our partners at a local level with
this donation. Each day, these vehicles help the organizations we partner with
reach out to at-risk seniors who can often feel isolated in their
In Ontario, 25 cars have been donated. Charitable partners in
British Columbia received a donation of seven vehicles. Alberta also received
seven cars while Quebec organizations received nine vehicles from the
Foundation. Each donation is made possible through generous support and
partnership from Nissan dealer partners across the country.
"These groups provide an important range of services to our neighbours in
the community, and have unique vehicle needs," added Grimm. "We are pleased to
be able to offer a variety of vehicle options to each of our agency partners
that help them best meet the needs of the community."
Groups like Meals on Wheels across Canada, Health and Home Care B.C. and
the Canadian Red Cross are just some of the beneficiaries of the donation.
These groups facilitate a wide range of programs from meal delivery to
transportation for medical appointments.
"We're very grateful to the Nissan Canada Foundation for this ongoing
support," said Inge Schamborzki, R.N., D.Ed., Executive Director, Health and
Home Care Society of B.C. "The Murano is ideal for our organization. It really
allows us to do a lot of good for a lot of people."
2008 marks the 15th anniversary of the Nissan Canada Foundation. In
commemoration, the Foundation recognizes the opportunity to celebrate Canadian
seniors for their contributions to Canada's social and economic fabric.
