Nightingale Signs 15-year Clinical Management System Agreement With OntarioMD

Contract win solidifies Nightingale's EMR market leadership in
Ontario and represents significant revenue growth opportunity

MARKHAM, ON, Oct. 22 /CNW/ - Nightingale Informatix Corporation
("Nightingale" or the "Company") (TSX-V: NGH), a healthcare Application
Service Provider (ASP) of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software, today
announced that it has signed a 15-year agreement with OntarioMD for its
Nightingale on Demand, Clinical Management System (CMS) ASP Offering. A CMS is
a software application that combines practice management software with an
integrated EMR. Based, in part, on this agreement, eligible primary care
physicians across the province will be able to apply for funding through the
Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) and Ontario Medical Association
(OMA) Physician Information Technology (IT) Program when implementing
Nightingale on Demand.
Currently, total funding available through the Physician IT Program is up
to $28,600 per physician, over three years. The OMA has obtained funding for
up to 2,700 physicians to date and hopes to work with the MOHLTC in Ontario to
drive further funding initiatives that will enable physicians across the
province to implement CMS. OntarioMD is a subsidiary of the OMA and is
responsible for the administration of the Ministry's Physician IT Program
"This agreement is a significant milestone for Nightingale," said Sam
Chebib, President and CEO of Nightingale. "There are more than 22,000
physicians in Ontario, and studies show that the adoption rate for EMR is
currently less than 20%. As the adoption of EMR gains momentum across Ontario
and governmental funding becomes increasingly available, we believe this
agreement will position us to capture a significant share of the market and
accelerate our growth over the next two to five years. In addition, it serves
as a testament to the technology leadership of our EMR ASP Offering, and
further validates our position as the largest EMR provider in Canada."
The Physician IT Program was designed to help primary care physicians
with the adoption and implementation of IT solutions in their practices. To
receive funding as part of the Program, eligible physicians must select an
OntarioMD funding eligible CMS Offerings. OntarioMD issued a Request for
Proposal (RFP) in April 2007 and conducted an extensive evaluation process to
select up to two new certified ASP Offerings. OntarioMD assessed each
Offering, focusing on security, privacy, functionality and other technology
specifications. Upon completion of the evaluation process, OntarioMD signed
agreements with Nightingale and one other CMS provider. Once certified, these
Offerings will join an already approved CMS Offering, allowing physicians to
select from three CMS ASP Offerings, which will not be revised until the year
Chebib added: "Our EMR Offering was specifically designed and built to be
delivered as an ASP model, and we have been providing our customers with
state-of-the-art performance and reliability since 2002. Nightingale already
has more than 2,000 providers in Canada on our ASP technology platform,
managing more than 4.5 million patient records. We are pleased to be part of
OntarioMD's CMS Program and to be a part of OntarioMD's initiative to
facilitate the implementation of healthcare IT solutions province-wide, within
its mandate."
"We are pleased to announce the selection of Nightingale on Demand as one
of our two new CMS ASP Offerings," said Brian Forster, Chief Executive Officer
of OntarioMD. "Nightingale worked hard to produce an Offering which withstood
a rigorous RFP process to achieve this status."
Nightingale's CMS ASP Offering, Nightingale on Demand, will be funding
eligible once the Offering completes OntarioMD's certification process.
Funding is immediately available for Nightingale's software-based Local
Solution CMS offering. Groups currently eligible for funding are: Family
Health Networks, Family Health Teams, Family Health Groups and Family Health
Organizations, Primary Care Networks, Health Service Organizations, Group
Health Centres and Rural and Northern Physician Groups.
