TORONTO, April 25 /CNW/ - Public elementary occasional teachers, members
of the Niagara Occasional Teacher Local of the Elementary Teachers' Federation
of Ontario (ETFO), reached a tentative collective agreement with the District
School Board of Niagara yesterday evening.
"The ETFO takeover team has done a fantastic job for our members. They
met with the board on numerous occasions and bargained around the clock to get
a deal," said ETFO President David Clegg. "This agreement benefits elementary
occasional teachers, the District School Board of Niagara, and elementary
students," Clegg said.

The Niagara Occasional Teacher Local represents more than 500 public
elementary occasional teachers. Their last contract expired August 31, 2008.
The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 73,000
elementary public school teachers and education workers across the province
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
