News Advisory - Beaches World Tour Conference Welcomes Global Beach Experts to Toronto

    Two-day international conference features experts on climate change,
    health and water quality, and sustainable tourism

    TORONTO, Sept. 13 /CNW/ -

    WHAT:     Beaches World Tour 2007, a two-day international conference on
              best practices and key issues at coastal and freshwater areas
              around the world. The conference includes keynote and workshop
              speakers from more than 35 countries who will share their
              expertise on climate change, health and water quality and
              sustainable tourism. Several hundred people from around the
              world are expected to attend the international conference to
              share innovative ideas and solutions.

              Hosted by Environmental Defence and the Foundation for
              Environmental Education (a European organization), Beaches
              World Tour 2007 is being held on the 20th Anniversary of the
              Blue Flag, an international program that certifies beaches
              around the world based on 27 strict criteria. More than 2,600
              beaches in 36 countries, including 9 beaches in Canada (6 of
              which are in Toronto), were certified this summer.
