VANCOUVER, June 8 /CNW/ - PMI Gold Corporation (TSX/V:PMV) - Douglas
MacQuarrie, President, announces that the first hole of this years drilling
program on our Ashanti II Gold project in Ghana, has been completed to a total
depth of 648 metres.
Drill hole, NK001, was collared at a dip of -50 degrees on grid section
210,000N, in the Nkran rock dump, some 260 metres west of the pit, and
targeted a Western Lode intersection at a depth of 420 metres below surface -
or 340 metres below the base of the old pit.
Quartz veined and altered sediments were encountered over a 53 metre core
length between 582 and 635 metres, representing a true width of approximately
40 metres. The core is currently being logged and sawn in half for sampling
and assaying. Pictures of the intersection will soon be available on our
latest powerpoint presentation on our www.pmigoldcorp.com web site.
This intersection fills in a 200 metre wide gap between two former drill
intersections - located 100 metres vertically above and below NK001, and was
also the first major test of geophysical targets on the west side of the pit.
Previous drilling had been from the east side of the pit, and typically
stopped shortly after the Western Lode intersection. Several other weaker
quartz veined zones and shears were also intersected higher up in the hole.
Assays will be reported as they become available.
