New collective agreement at the Salvation Army Ottawa, Booth Centre

OTTAWA, Aug. 13 /CNW Telbec/ - The Salvation Army Ottawa Booth Centre and
PSAC Local 73100 are pleased to announce the successful completion of its
current Collective Bargaining process with the ratification of a 2-year
agreement covering the period from April 1, 2007 to March 31, 2009. A
tentative agreement was reached after two days of bargaining on July 19-20,
2007, and a vote ratifying this agreement was held on August 3, 2007 by the
PSAC local.
We believe that the negotiations have resulted in two key elements:

    - a renewed resolve on the part of both parties to work collaboratively
for the good of all staff involved, the good of the clients we serve
and the good of the agency in order to carry out the Mission of the
Ottawa Booth Centre. This will include areas such as training, conflict
      resolution and dispute resolution.

    - a significant step towards compensation packages which are equitable to
the sector in which we work. The combination of the increase in
individual wages and access to the greatly enhanced RRSP program moves
      us closer towards this goal.

We wish to thank all of those who were involved with the preparation for,
and execution of, this round of the collective bargaining and we appreciate
the efforts involved. We look forward to continuing improvements in
collaboration over the next couple of years and commit to fostering an
environment that makes for a safe and fulfilling workplace.
