New Cloakware Conformance Assessment Service Helps Device Manufacturers Meet Content Protection Licensing Requirements

Security Assessment Methodology Delivers Industry-Leading Security
Measures for DRM Implementations

VIENNA, VA., November 26 /CNW/ - Cloakware Inc., the security solutions
provider that makes security inseparable from software, today announced the
availability of Cloakware's Conformance Assessment Service, which determines
if a consumer electronics device or application meets licensing requirements
for specific content protection standards.

In order to carry licensed digital content, OEMs need to ensure
conformance with industry Robustness and Compliance Rules - a set of security
measures that must be deployed into a device or application to ensure that all
licensed content is protected from piracy. If a device has a demonstrable
security or compliance defect, the manufacturer faces legal and financial
damages in addition to putting its brand at risk.

Cloakware's Conformance Assessment Service is directed towards
manufacturers who are implementing content protection standards such as
DTCP-IP, Marlin, OMA DRM, or Microsoft's WMDRM and PlayReady. The service
includes a project discovery interview, architectural consultation and a
threat/attack analysis designed specifically for each standard. The service
provides detailed information on whether or not device and equipment
manufacturers meet Robustness and Compliance Rules and identifies potential
security weaknesses in DRM implementations and their remedies.

Cloakware has developed unmatched experience in Digital Rights Management
(DRM) in the past decade. The company has implemented a wide range of content
protection standards and link protection protocols, including proprietary
schemes, on PCs, mobile handsets and set-top boxes. Cloakware technology
protects applications on over one billion deployed devices worldwide.

"We understand that implementing DRM is difficult," said Alec Main,
Cloakware's CTO. "Every platform has unique requirements with respect to
performance and security. The goal may not be to make a product 100% bullet
proof. Cloakware brings a third party perspective that helps manufacturers
understand the trade offs. By enabling device manufacturers to focus on the
consumers' needs and tastes rather than licensing requirements, we are
offering a service that no media device business can do without."
