Neterion and iStor Networks Demonstrate Breakthrough 10 Gigabit Ethernet Performance for iSCSI SAN Applications at SNW Conference

iStor's 10 GbE GigaStorATX Network Storage Controller and Neterion's
Xframe II Adapter Offer SMBs Low-Cost, High Performance Solution for Storage
Networking Requirements

SAN DIEGO, April 16 /CNW/ - Neterion Inc., the industry leader in the 10
Gigabit Ethernet adapter market, and iStor Networks, a leading provider of
iSCSI (Internet Small Computer System Interface) network storage solutions,
announced they are conducting a live demonstration of an iSCSI-based storage
area network (SAN) operating at line rate 10 Gbps speeds in the Solution
Center at the Spring Storage Networking World Conference this week in San
Diego. The network features Xframe II(R), a member of Neterion's family of
V-NIC(TM) 10 GbE adapters, and iStor's GigaStorATX(TM) 10 GbE network storage

"Neterion and iStor want to clearly demonstrate to small and medium
businesses (SMBs) that they no longer have to make price/performance tradeoffs
for their storage area networking needs," said Philippe Levy, vice president
of marketing at Neterion. "iSCSI over 10 Gigabit Ethernet enables companies to
leverage their existing IP network infrastructure and expertise, to roll out
high-performance and high-reliability IP SANs at a fraction of the cost of
Fibre Channel (FC), and without the need for highly-specialized FC experts."

By combining Xframe II that uses the PCI-X 2.0 bus architecture with
Double Date Rate technology and the GigaStorATX storage controller with 12
embedded processors on the ASIC, iStor and Neterion developed a 10 Gbps
storage network that delivers a wide range of mission critical solutions:

-- The network can address more than 80,000 Input/Output Operations per
Second (IOPS) for complex online transaction processing (OLTP) requirements
such as database and Web-based applications

-- 10 Gbps performance is ideal for bandwidth intensive applications
such as video streaming and disk-to-disk data replication. This network
solution can perform an impressive 1160MBytes/sec to address these customer

-- Scalability of disk capacity is built into the storage network so
that additional storage systems can be easily added as connectivity
requirements increase

-- Disaster recovery and data protection of key company information
assets are provided through a variety of applications that enable low cost
remote replication and ease of data access

-- Security of information assets is ensured with advanced security
capabilities including the Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP)
and SSL encryption

"This record-breaking demonstration is the latest example of how iSCSI
deployed with 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity can be an attractive storage
networking alternative for companies of all sizes," stated Jay Kramer VP of WW
Marketing at iStor. "And iSCSI-based storage systems enable us to simplify
storage management for end users while lowering their administration and
operational costs."

Another important aspect of the demonstration is the high level of
virtualization designed into a server and storage environment. Xframe II is
part of Neterion's family of V-NIC adapters, featuring the Hyperframe(TM)
suite of technologies designed to provide virtualization at the I/O level
where major bandwidth bottlenecks can occur. iStor's GigaStor storage
controller provides a robust volume virtualization software stack to maximize
the utilization of storage assets. The result is a virtualized storage pool
offering a significant increase in operational management productivity and
greater volume efficiency for optimization of the storage resources.

The live demo configuration includes the Fujitsu XG1200 10 GbE switch
running on the Microsoft Windows 2003 R2 operating system (although the
network is capable of running on all major operating system environments). The
host system is a Dell PowerEdge 1425 server featuring dual Xeon 3.0GHz
processors and the Xframe II 10 GbE adapter connected to a Fujitsu XG1200 10
GbE Switch. The iSCSI software initiator is Microsoft's iSCSI Initiator V2.03
and the GigaStorATX provides the 10 GbE target storage system. Results are
validated by IOMeter test software.

Further information on the demonstration will be provided in the Solution
Center at Storage Networking World Spring 2007 Conference in San Diego April
16 - 19.
