NDP voted to send public education dollars to private schools

TORONTO, Sept. 17 /CNW/ - The defining issue in this election campaign is
whether public money should be diverted from public education to private
McGuinty Liberals stand on the side of 2 million kids in publicly funded
Conservatives stand on the side of taking $500 million out of publicly
funded education for private religious schools.
But where do the NDP stand?
When asked today if he was concerned by John Tory's questionable scheme
to divert public education money to private religious schools, Hampton
responded "of course we have concerns about that."
The NDP say one thing during elections, but their actions at Queen's Park
speak louder.
When the McGuinty Liberals introduced legislation (Bill 2) that cancelled
the last Conservative private school giveaway, the NDP voted to keep it.
Here's a list of the NDP members who voted to keep ripping money out of
public education and sending it to private schools:

Howard Hampton, NDP Leader (Kenora Rainy River)
Rosario Marchese, NDP Education Critic (Trinity Spadina)
    Michael Prue (Beaches East York)
    Gilles Bisson (Timmins James Bay)
    Shelley Martel (Nickel Belt)

"Ontarians know that a vote for the NDP is a vote for the Conservative
agenda," said Deputy Premier George Smitherman. "Only McGuinty Liberals will
stand up for public education."
