National lobby day for post-secondary education

    OTTAWA, Nov. 20 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Association of University
Teachers (CAUT) will release the results of a national poll on public
attitudes toward tuition fees, accessibility and the federal government's
performance on post-secondary education, on November 22, to coincide with
CAUT's lobby day on Parliament Hill.

                             CAUT's LOBBY DAY is

                 WHEN: Thursday, November 22, 2007, ongoing

    The poll, commissioned jointly with the Canadian Federation of Students,
was conducted by Harris-Decima.
    Representatives of CAUT, along with more than 40 professors, librarians
and academic staff from across the country will be meeting with MPs and
Senators throughout the day to discuss how the federal government can improve
the quality and accessibility of post-secondary education and research in

    Challenges faced by Canadian universities such as:
    -   Funding
    -   Tuition fee levels
    -   Recruitment and retention of top-quality teachers and researchers
