Musqueam Indian Band membership ratifies reconciliation agreement with the Province of BC

    VANCOUVER, March 10 /CNW/ - The Musqueam Indian Band membership voiced
tonight its strong approval of the Reconciliation, Settlement and Benefits
Agreement negotiated with the Province of BC. The membership voted 98% in
favour of the agreement at a general Band membership meeting. A total of 337
ballots were cast.
    "The Musqueam people fully support this fair and honourable settlement
agreement," said Musqueam Chief Ernie Campbell. "Our membership - including
our Elders, young adults and members on- and off-reserve - have expressed
tonight a collective and resounding approval of the agreement."
    The Reconciliation, Settlement and Benefits Agreement will provide full
and final settlement of outstanding litigation related to the 2003 sale of the
University of British Columbia Golf Course lands; the relocation of the River
Rock casino to Richmond's Bridgepoint lands; and, remediation for
environmental damage to the Celtic Lands in South Vancouver.
