MTS Allstream Supports Flood Relief Efforts in Manitoba

    WINNIPEG, May 13 /CNW/ - MTS Allstream Inc. ("MTS Allstream") is
supporting "Rise Again 2009: The Red Cross Manitoba Flood Relief Concert" in
aid of Manitoba's 2009 flood victims. The fundraising concert features top
Canadian performers like Tom Jackson, Deborah Cox, Tom Cochrane, and The Barra
MacNiels, among many others, and takes place tonight at the MTS Centre at 7:00
p.m. The concert will be broadcast live on CBC Radio, APTN on May 17 and 18,
and CBC TV on May 18.
    MTS Allstream designed and built the Rise Again 2009 web site
(, and is providing FleetNet radios, cell phones, and
corporate fleet vehicles to support the concert's communication and
transportation needs. The company's "MTS Volunteers" organization is also
providing hundreds of volunteer hours to assist with concert set-up, hosting,
and logistics.

    In 1997, Tom Jackson organized The Red River Relief Benefit to raise
money for Manitobans who lost their homes and businesses as a result of the
massive flooding of the Red River. In less than two weeks, he assembled a
group of Canadian talent to perform live in Calgary and Winnipeg, and to a
national television audience. The event raised close to $3 million dollars for
flood victims. This year, with the concert being televised on CBC and APTN,
he's hoping to replicate this success.
