WINNIPEG, Sept. 5 /CNW/ - MTS Allstream Inc. ("MTS Allstream) employees
and retirees are delivering backpacks filled with school supplies to 500
elementary school students across Manitoba this week.
Part of the company's 100th anniversary celebrations, the employee-driven
Centennial Packs School Supply Drive collected dozens of boxes of school
supplies from MTS Allstream employees over the summer, filling and shipping
the backpacks this week.
"MTS Allstream has always been a strong supporter of education at many
levels", said Pierre Blouin, Chief Executive Officer, MTS Allstream. "The
Centennial Packs School Supply Drive is an excellent opportunity for our
Second Century celebrations to serve as a catalyst for another positive
contribution toward education in Manitoba."
"Many Manitoba families are unable to provide their children with the
required supplies for the school year," added Blouin. "Our employees and
retirees have collected, assembled and donated the supplies needed to help
children in our communities start the school year off on the right foot."
The Manitoba schools benefiting from this initiative include Garden Hill
Elementary School (Garden Hill), Minegoziibe Anishinabe School (Pine Creek),
Betty Gibson Elementary School (Brandon), and Fort La Reine School (Portage La
Prairie), as well as Strathcona School, John M. King School, Wiwabigooni
School, Wellington School, and David Livingstone School in Winnipeg.
