MTS Allstream Applies for Conciliation

    WINNIPEG, June 14 /CNW/ - MTS Allstream confirmed today that it has
written to the federal Minister of Labour to seek the appointment of a
conciliator to assist in bargaining efforts with the TEAM - IFPTE Local 161,
which represents MTS Allstream professional employees in Manitoba.
    "We are committed to successfully negotiating contracts with all of our
unions, and TEAM - IFPTE Local 161 is no exception," said Aliana Rozenek,
Chief Human Resource Officer, MTS Allstream. "We feel that, at this stage of
the negotiations, a conciliator would be helpful in ensuring both parties are
able to fully discuss all issues on the path to a new collective agreement. We
look forward to working with TEAM - IFPTE Local 161 leadership through the
conciliation process."
    MTS Allstream remains open and committed to further successful bargaining
with TEAM - IFPTE Local 161. Consistent with past practice, the Company
believes in negotiating at the bargaining table, not in the media. As such,
the Company will not provide any comment on the status of the negotiations.
