Montreal private clinic offers latest screening test for Andropause

While in their fifties, already more than 30% of men suffer from low
    testosterone levels

    MONTREAL, June 16 /CNW Telbec/ - Crea-MeD teams with Procrea Laboratories
to offer leading clinical laboratory services for male patients experiencing
andropause (male equivalent of menopause). Symptoms such as loss of energy,
depression, loss of muscle mass, diminished libido, and weight gain may be
signs of premature aging associated with low levels of male hormones. A valid
treatment does exist to correct this situation. However, an adequate diagnosis
must be made first. According to survey results from the Prostate & Cancer
Research Foundation, 50% of Canadian men do not make a point of booking an
annual doctor's appointment. Furthermore, physicians are often too overloaded
to address this issue and previous laboratory values interpretation could be
Andropause is a medical condition caused by a drop in androgen hormone
levels. Starting at the age of 30, men experience a drop in testosterone by
about 10% every decade. Even if total testosterone levels may seem adequate,
its required effects may not be accomplished due to testosterone entrapment in
proteins that inhibits its activity. This is why it may be difficult to relate
medical symptoms with total testosterone levels. Crea-MeD uses state of the
art testing developed at Procrea to measure more accurately the actual
testosterone availability in the organism.
According to research published in the New England Journal of Medicine,
more than 30% of males suffer from low effective testosterone levels starting
in their fifties. Andropause may include any of these symptoms:

    - Decreased energy
    - Decreased mental quickness and sharpness
    - Depression, irritability, mood swings and/or loss of eagerness and
      enthusiasm for daily life
    - Loss of strength, endurance or muscle mass
    - Increased body fat and slow metabolism
    - Night sweats, hot flashes and/or trouble sleeping
    - Low sex drive
    - Difficulties getting erections or erections that are not as strong
      as usual

Without proper treatment, men are more at risk of developing further
serious health conditions such as cardiac problems or osteoporosis.
Crea-MeD's screening process includes a panel of endocrine markers as
well as the prostate antigen to help male patients ascertain if they suffer
from Andropause. An extensive work-up may also be completed on premise to
evaluate overall health condition of Crea-MeD's patients. For a limited time,
Crea-MeD is offering a screening service open to all men who wish to check for
Andropause. Priced at $195, Androtest(TM)-S blood test is performed by a nurse
and the results are available in a few working days. The patient will be
notified of test results and provided with a follow-up report that may be
handed to one's attending physician. Follow-up may also be done at Crea-MeD on
a private health care basis. More informations are available on Crea-MeD
