Montréal Passion Vin: An Outstanding 10th Year! - Record Profits of $3,480,066

MONTREAL, Nov. 28, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ - The 10th edition of Montréal Passion Vin (MPV), an event hosted by the SAQ and organized by the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont Foundation (HMR Foundation), was held on November 25th and 26th at the Hilton Montreal Bonaventure hotel. The 10th anniversary edition was simply exceptional! The Organizing Committee, led by President Pierre Beauchesne, impressed many of those who attended the event with the participation of some of the world's most prestigious châteaux, estates and vineyards.

This extraordinary 10th edition was distinguished by a generous donation from Mr. Herbert Black, who has become an invaluable contributor to the HMR Foundation.  Although he was not able to attend the event, Mr. Black surprised everyone by making a videotaped announcement regarding his outstanding donation of 2.5 million dollars.

Thanks to this generous donation, the 2011 edition has raised a record net amount of $3,480,066 to benefit the HMR Centre of Excellence for Cellular Therapy. This world-class centre will open its doors in the spring of 2012, enabling researchers to reach new heights internationally through stem-cell research and regenerative medicine therapies.

A distinguished guest

The Grand Banquet, under the honorary presidency of Martine Turcotte, Bell Vice Chair, Quebec, was also highlighted by the presence of Yves Bolduc, the Minister for Health and Social Services. Moved by the 9th edition in 2010, the Minister wanted to take part in the HMR Foundation fundraising event again this year. He took the opportunity to underline the amazing work done by the 5500 employees of the major hospital and talked about the exceptional collaboration between the Foundation and the HMR.
