Mitsubishi launches 2009 "Right To Play Challenge" sports charity sales drive

Cash will be given directly to Right To Play

MISSISSAUGA, ON, April 2 /CNW/ - April 1, 2009 marked the first day of
Mitsubishi's 2009 "Right To Play Challenge", a three-month long charitable
promotion that is tied directly to new vehicle sales. For the second year in a
row Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada Inc. (MMSCAN) will donate $100 per new
vehicle directly to Right To Play, the international humanitarian
organization. The 2009 promotion runs from April 1 to June 30 and applies to
every new vehicle sold at Mitsubishi dealers during that period. In 2008, an
identical promotion raised $480,000. Right To Play was named the official
sports charity of MMSCAN for 2009 earlier this year at the Canadian
International Autoshow.
Operating in 23 countries and widely respected, Right To Play is an
international humanitarian organization that uses sport and play programs to
improve health, build life skills, and foster peace for children and
communities affected by war, poverty and disease. Headquartered in Toronto,
Ontario, with national offices in Canada, the Netherlands, Norway,
Switzerland, the UK, United Arab Emirates, and the USA, Right To Play is
supported by an international team of top athletes from more than 40 different
countries who generously donate their time to give back through sport. These
caring athletes inspire children, are role models for healthy lifestyle
choices and help raise awareness and funding for Right To Play projects.
"Last year we donated $100 cash for every new vehicle sold from April
through June, for a total of $480,000" said Koji Soga, President and CEO of
Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada Inc. "We are pleased with this partnership
and will apply this same formula in 2009. At Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada
we are committed to giving back to both the community and the world, and we
will strive to make this donation as large as possible."
"Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada has been such an outstanding partner
for Right To Play, and I would like to once again commend them and thank them
for their exceptional leadership and support," said Johann Koss, President and
CEO of Right To Play. "By investing in children and sharing our vision to
create a safer and healthier world, they are helping to make the world a
better place for us all."
