Miss Teen Canada-World Announces its Semi-Finalists from Manitoba, Saskatchewan & British Columbia

TORONTO, April 30 /CNW/ - Michelle Weswaldi, Executive Director of Miss
Teen Canada-World today announced the semi-finalists from Manitoba,
Saskatchewan and British Columbia. The Miss Teen Canada-world Pageant is the
only Pageant that conducts provincial competitions to select National
finalists and has the rights to send its winner to represent Canada at the
International Miss Teen World Pageant. Organizers are searching the country
for fifty Canadian teen girls to compete for the title of Miss Teen
Canada-World in up to 10 Canadian cities this spring. This final competition
will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. at the John Bassett
Theatre at the Metro Convention Centre in downtown Toronto.
Girls aged 13 - 19 from across Canada will compete for the coveted title
and the largest prize package awarded in a Canadian teen pageant. Over $25,000
in cash, prizes, and scholarships will be awarded to talented aspiring teens.
This year, "Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful" is much more than slogan for
Miss Teen Canada-World. Miss Teen Canada-World provides the opportunity to be
an ambassador for Canada and its mandate is to empower youth to take a
leadership role in their communities. Girls will develop new interests, become
a positive role model, and contribute to projects in their community by
raising funds for FREE THE CHILDREN. The girls will also be focusing on
academics, building self-confidence and learning about all of the qualities
that enable a young woman to become a leader of tomorrow.
FREE THE CHILDREN is the official charity of choice for the MTC-W
Pageant. Each of the National Delegates is required to raise $400 within their
communities for Free The Children. The fundraising initiative is as a
prerequisite into the National MTC-W Pageant scheduled for July 25, 2009. The
pageant goal is to raise $20,000 by the pageant date.
The search began in Ontario early in 2009 and has moved across Canada.

Miss Teen Canada-World is still accepting applications for girls to apply
to participate in the remaining provinces. To select the National finalists
applicants must first be prequalified in an interview and then compete on
stage against 20-45 other contenders. The staged show produced in each
province is to showcase the girls' talents and the overall winner becomes
"Miss Teen" of their home province. The remaining top 41 finalists are awarded
city titles and invited to travel to Toronto with nine other provincial
winners to compete for the title of Miss Teen Canada-World on July 25, 2009.
