Mine Rescue Competition in Britannia Beach

    BRITANNIA BEACH, BC, June 1 /CNW/ - The 54th Annual Mine Rescue
Competition takes place Saturday June 6 at the BC Museum of Mining. Mine
rescue teams from throughout the province will gather from 8:00am - 4:30pm.
    Spectator events include Underground Mine Rescue, Surface Mine Rescue and
a Three Person First Aid scenario. The competition is designed to test the
skills of trained personnel. Mining experts evaluate each challenge as teams
work through a simulated mine environment. Hosted by the Ministry of Energy,
Mines and Petroleum Resources, this event highlights the industry's dedication
to safe mine practices.
    The games are free and spectators are encouraged to attend. Visitors may
also enjoy the Museum's popular guided underground adventure and gold panning
at the regular admission cost.
