BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich., July 8 /CNW/ -- Now that the Canadian dollar is
going further, Canadian shoppers are, too.

According to a recent study by Maritz Research for Taubman Centers, Inc.,
an American shopping centre company, one in three Canadians visited a U.S.
mall in 2007. Ontarians and British Columbians were the most avid U.S. mall
shoppers; 39 percent of them shopped in a U.S. mall last year, and one in 10
did so more than four times.
Summer vacation was the most popular time for Canadians to visit American
malls -- one in five reported a summer shopping trip. Many were likely combing
the aisles in search of kids' clothes and other back-to-school essentials.
In response to the survey results, Taubman's four Detroit-area shopping
centres have put together back-to-school shop-and-stay packages from August
1st to September 1st to give Canadian visitors extra value.
