Métis Sign First Heavy-Equipment/Personal-Development Contract

    Labour Market Development (LMD) under the authority of the Métis Nation
    of Alberta (MNA) signs contract for Heavy Equipment Operator Training
    Project in Camrose AB

    CAMROSE, AB, May 13 /CNW/ - Members of the Métis Nation of Alberta will
be the first heavy-equipment graduates funded by Labour Market Development in
    The objective of the training program is to train students to safely and
effectively operate heavy equipment for the oil & gas, construction and road
building industries. Students will also be trained in personal development
areas including the life-skills necessary to function in this field and job
readiness skills required to be a self-sufficient employee.
    High Velocity Equipment training of Camrose AB is offering the 12 week
Multi-equipment Program which is specifically designed to provide students
with the required safety training, an overview and equipment orientation
leading to theory and skill building on a variety of machinery, and then to
gaining competence on each machine through job-specific tasks as identified by
construction, road building and oil & gas industries says Terry Payne, the
Admissions and Job Placement Officer of High Velocity Equipment Training.
    High Velocity Equipment Training is the first private vocational training
school offering heavy equipment training under the Private Vocational Schools
    "Why our training is so different is that we help our students examine
their own beliefs around employment, pay-cheques and personal-change in order
to take advantage of the shifting market conditions."
    These personal development components will be delivered onsite by an
independent contractor, INEO Employment Services, who has been educating
clients on life-skills and work-skills through group facilitation and
individual counseling for 10+ years. In addition to the heavy equipment
