TORONTO, Dec. 3 /CNW/ - Mercedes-Benz Canada reported an impressive new
November sales record as a total of 1,434 Mercedes-Benz units were delivered
representing an increase of 22.1% over 2006. Overall new car deliveries
reached 1,444 units for the month and gained 15.3% over the previous year,
including sales of smart which dwindled to 10 units as the model series is now
completely sold out. The new generation smart will be released by end of this
Performance was strong across the entire model line. The all-new C-Class,
at 517 units, had a most impressive start in Canada but the B-Class, the
E-Class, and on the SUV side by the M- and GL-Class also did extremely well.
In addition, the S-Class at 94 units outsold any other product in its segment
by far. As a result, Mercedes-Benz passenger car sales reached 1,103 units and
surged ahead of the previous year by 23.4%, while SUV volume grew by 18.2% to
331 units for the month.
The stellar November result pushed year-to-date Mercedes-Benz sales to
14,702 units for an increase of 12.7% over the previous year. Total MB Canada
sales - Mercedes-Benz and smart combined - stood at 16,890 units and posted a
gain of 5.5% over 2006.
Marcus Breitschwerdt, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada,
remarked: "Needless to say we are extremely happy with our November result,
which continues our string of very strong monthly performances this year. And
while the new C-Class has contributed considerably to our success in November,
it is equally gratifying to see that all of our other model series are doing
as well as they are."
