Mediterranean confirms significant expansion of polymetallic potential at Corak

VANCOUVER, Aug. 9 /CNW/ - Mediterranean Resources Ltd. (TSX-V: MNR,
Frankfurt: MHM1) (the "Company") today announced further drill hole results
confirming the north and northeast extensions of significant polymetallic
mineralization in the South Zone of the Corak gold property held by the
Company in northeastern Turkey.
Two reverse circulation drill holes, C-118 and C-120, and a diamond core
drill hole, CD-96, returned gold and base metal intersections of multiple
quartz veining confirming the continuity of the South Zone mineralization to
the north and northeast. C-118, drilled to a depth of 165 metres along the
same drill fence of holes reported July 18, 2007 to test the north extension
of the South Zone, returned similar results. One interval graded 1.37 g/t
gold, 0.49% lead and 0.77% zinc over 65.0 metres including 3.74 g/t gold,
0.15% copper, 0.36% lead and 0.97% zinc over 9.00 metres and 11.6 g/t gold,
0.12% copper, 6.54% lead and 12.75% zinc over 2.0 metres. C-120, drilled to a
depth of 120 metres approximately 100 metres to the north of C-118 to test the
northwest extension of the South Zone, returned high base metal values
including 0.22% copper, 10.8% lead and 6.86% zinc over 1.00 metre and 0.41%
copper, 2.04% lead and 5.24% zinc over 1.00 metre. Another interval graded
0.45% lead and 1.03% zinc over 11.0 metres including 1.22 g/t gold, 0.20%
copper, 1.10% lead and 2.57% zinc over 4.0 metres. An interval at the bottom
of the hole graded 0.11% copper, 0.98% lead and 1.46% zinc over 1.00 metre.
CD-96 also drilled to test the northwest extension of the South Zone,
approximately 50 metres to the northwest of C-120, to a depth of 289 metres
returned high polymetallic values over the core length. One near surface
interval graded 5.92 g/t gold, 1.93% lead and 1.69% zinc over 4.9 metres
including 34.2 g/t gold, 0.17% copper, 9.83% lead and 7.33% zinc over 0.8
metres. Another interval graded 0.99 g/t gold, 0.52% lead and 0.50% zinc over
14.5 metres including 10.30 g/t gold, 0.16% copper, 8.31% lead, and 1.27% zinc
over 0.30 metres and 8.64 g/t gold, 0.36% copper, 5.13% lead and 6.61% zinc
over 0.90 metres. In all cases, the silver content is material. These drill
hole results confirm that gold and base metal mineralization in the South zone
extends to the north and northwest as well as being open to the northeast and
at depth.
The historic resource potential at Corak, surmised from exploration
drilling and soil sampling completed by a major mining company in the early
1990s, which predates and is non-compliant with NI 43-101, is 1.8 million
tonnes averaging 10 g/t gold. As a qualified person has not performed
sufficient work to classify the historical estimate as current mineral
resources, the Company is not treating the historical estimate as current
mineral resources and the historical estimate should not be relied upon.
Refer to the table below for detailed results and

showing the mineralized zones and drill hole locations.

There is one diamond drill rig and a reverse circulation rig operating at
site. Approximately 8,500 metres of drilling has been completed at Corak.
Assay results, which are taking approximately eight weeks to be received from
the time holes are drilled and logged, will be released as they become
available. The 20,000 metre campaign is expected to be completed by the end of
November, 2007 and a NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate completed by
March 31, 2008.
Dr. Peter Guest is the qualified person who has reviewed the data
indicated in this news release. The ALS Chemex Vancouver laboratory is using
standard fire assay and atomic absorption methods in performing all gold and
multi-element analyses. True widths of the narrow high grade veins reported
are indeterminable at this stage.

    About Mediterranean Resources Ltd.

Mediterranean Resources Ltd. acquires and develops advanced stage mineral
properties of demonstrated potential. Currently the Company is actively
working on its two 100% owned properties in Turkey, Tac and Corak, that lie
along a common mineralized trend with Corak approximately 8 kilometres to the
southwest of Tac. These properties experienced more than US$4 million of
exploration by a major international mining company during the early 1990's
and US$3.1 million of exploration by the Company in 2006 which led to the
Company acquiring an undivided interest in them.
During 2006, the Company outlined at the Tac Property a NI 43-101
compliant Indicated Resource of 773,313 ozs of gold and 34,220,429 lbs of
copper on an uncapped basis with average grades of 2.01 g/t gold and 0.13%
copper at a 1.0 g/t gold cut-off. The Company is conducting a 10,000 metre
drill program at Tac with the goal of updating the compliant resource estimate
by the first quarter, 2008. The Company is also carrying out a 20,000 metre
drill campaign at Corak with the goal of completing a NI 43-101 compliant
resource estimate also by the end of the first quarter, 2008. Please visit
