Medifocus Inc. announces new director



    VANCOUVER, April 1 /CNW/ - April 1, 2009 - Medifocus Inc. ("Medifocus")
is pleased to announce that Grant Walsh was appointed to the Board of
directors of Medifocus.
    Mr. Walsh is the managing partner and Chief Executive Officer of EC
Murphy Walsh, a management consulting firm specializing in performance
improvement in service, healthcare and health related organizations. Prior to
establishing EC Murphy Walsh, Mr. Walsh was the President and Chief Executive
Officer of St. Peter's Health System in Ontario, a regional provider of
integrated healthcare services. Previously, Mr. Walsh was an Executive Vice
President with ServiceMaster Management Services, and oversaw 30,000 employees
servicing 10,000 client properties in 44 states. Mr. Walsh is an Adjunct
Professor in the Executive Education program at the DeGroote School of
Business, McMaster University and has received from The DeGroote School of
Business and the Conference Board of Canada the designation as a Chartered
    Dr. Augustine Cheung, Chairman of the Board, indicates that Mr. Walsh
will assist in the growth of Medifocus due to his significant experience and
success in the healthcare and health related sectors: "We are pleased to
welcome Grant to the board and are looking forward to benefiting from his
wealth of experience and knowledge."
    Mr. Walsh joins the Medifocus Board comprised of Dr. Augustine Cheung,
Dr. Andy Lam and Joe K.F. Tai. At this time the directors of Medifocus believe
that the current number of directors is appropriate and cost-effective with
respect to the size and development stage of Medifocus as well as the needs of
its shareholders.
    The directors and senior management of Medifocus have held a series of
meetings with investors in Toronto last week following a press conference held
on March 25 at which Dr. Augustine Cheung provided an update on the recent
corporate and scientific developments for Medifocus. Dr. Cheung informed the
investors and stakeholders present that Medifocus is waiting for clearance
from the Research Ethics Boards (REB) of the Ville Marie Medical Center in
Montreal and of the North York General Hospital in Toronto to start its
Pivotal Phase-II trial on breast cancer in Canada. In addition, Dr. Cheung
also summarized the clinical results of two randomized phase-II studies on
breast cancer which were reported by others during the recent 19th Annual
National Interdisciplinary Breast Center Conference in Las Vegas.
