Media reminder - CPA Annual Meeting to elect new President, honour excellence in policing, and advance political agenda

    OTTAWA, Aug. 27 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Police Association will hold
its Annual General Meeting in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador from
August 28 to August 30, 2008. Delegates representing 57,000 CPA members will
be electing a new President of the Canadian Police Association, hold the
Annual CPA Awards of Excellence Ceremony, and establish the CPA agenda for the
year ahead and address key police labour and justice reform issues.

    Thursday August 28, 2008 - Ballroom, Fairmont Newfoundland, St. John's

    The CPA will also hold its Annual Awards of Excellence Ceremony as the
opening event of the 3-day meeting on August 28, 2008. The Provincial Minister
of Justice and Attorney General, the Honourable Jerome P. Kennedy will join
CPA President Tony Cannavino in presenting the 2008 Awards of Excellence. This
annual ceremony offers the opportunity to recognize police officers whose acts
and deeds far exceeded the every day call of duty during the past year.
