OTTAWA, Oct. 7 /CNW Telbec/ - On Friday, 10 October 2008, the Bank of
Canada will hold a lock-up for the first issue of its Senior Loan Officer
Survey, a quarterly survey of the business-lending practices of major Canadian
financial institutions. The Senior Loan Officer Survey helps the Bank assess
the current business-borrowing environment and is an important input into the
Bank's monitoring of current credit conditions.
The Bank has been conducting this survey since 1999. It complements
information collected in the Bank's Business Outlook Survey. As part of the
Bank's ongoing commitment to share economic data that feed into the conduct of
monetary policy, results of these quarterly surveys will be published
simultaneously starting on 10 October.
9 a.m. Lock-up: Journalists are invited to review the results of
the third-quarter Senior Loan Officer Survey and the autumn
issue of the Business Outlook Survey under the usual
conditions of a lock-up at the Bank's head office in Ottawa
and at the regional offices in Toronto (150 King Street
West, Suite 2000) and Montréal (1501 McGill College Avenue,
Suite 2030). Please be sure to have your press card with
Representatives from the Bank's Monetary and Financial
Analysis and Research Departments will be available to
provide background information and to answer technical
questions related to the surveys.
Journalists in Toronto and Montréal will be linked by
teleconference. Information gathered at the session may be
used freely in news reports and commentaries, provided that
it is not attributed to the Bank or its officers.
