Media Invitation - Wednesday, September 10 at 11 a.m. at Chapelle historique du Bon-Pasteur - A unique opportunity to hear the works performed during the Nunavik Tour with 7 musicians of the OSM and Kent Nagano

    MONTREAL, Sept. 9 /CNW Telbec/ - On the eve of a tour to Québec's Far
North, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal invites representatives of the
press to come hear the works that will be performed there at a dress rehearsal
on September 10 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Chapelle historique du
    A reminder that the tour will take place from September 11 to 15 in
Nunavik, that vast territory located in the arctic region of Québec. Maestro
Kent Nagano as well as seven musicians will be visiting three Nunavik
villages: Inukjuak, Kangiqsujuak and Kuujjuak.
    The ensemble will be performing Stravinsky's A Soldier's Tale. The text,
originally written in French, will be recited in Inuktitut by Jobie
Weetaluktuk, a writer-filmmaker and native of Nunavik, to a staging by Alexis
Martin. The second work on the program was commissioned from Canadian composer
Alexina Louie. The piece, inspired by Inuit culture, was written for seven
musicians and two throat singers, Evie Mark and Taqralik Partridge. The
musicians will also play a flagship work of Western music: Mozart's Eine
kleine Nachtmusik, in an arrangement by Gilles Bellemare.
    Maestro Kent Nagano and all the artists taking part in the tour will be
available to meet the press after the dress rehearsal, at 12:30 p.m. Drinks
will be served.
