Media Fellowship Recipients Announced by the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada

    VANCOUVER, April 2 /CNW/ - The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada today
announced the recipients of its 2007 Media Fellowship program that offers
established Canadian journalists, in any media channel, the opportunity to
spend time in Asia researching and preparing stories and programs.
    The Foundation awarded four grants this year of $10,000. The Media
Fellowships are part of the new Asia Pacific Foundation Research Grants
Program, funded through the proceeds of an endowment established by the
Government of Canada and designed to stimulate informed discussion on Canada's
relations with Asia.

    The 2007 Media Fellows are:

    -  Sophie Cousineau, La Presse (Research will take place in China)
    -  Duncan Mavin, Financial Post (Research will take place in China)
    -  Jen Skerritt, The Winnipeg Free Press (Research will take place in
    -  Judy Stoffman, Toronto Star (Research will take place in Japan)

    "The jury was delighted with both the quality and quantity of the
response to the competition," said Paul Evans, the Foundation's Co-CEO and
Chairman of the Executive Committee. "We congratulate the recipients of the
Media Fellowships on outstanding proposals. These Fellowships offer Canadian
journalists the opportunity to experience first-hand the fastest growing and
