What: Variety Village - a world leader in offering inclusive sports and
recreational programs for children and adults of all abilities - is
hosting Tip Top Big Top, a circus-themed event to launch its Healthy
Buddies(C) program designed to educate school children and their families
on the benefits of maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle.
Healthy Buddies empowers elementary school children to live healthier
lives by providing them, their teachers and their parents with knowledge
about, and a positive attitude toward, the three components of health:
physical activity, healthy eating and positive self image. For more

Tip Top Big Top fuses entertainment, education, and hands-on
interaction - the end result being a multi-dimensional health experience
that is expected to positively influence, engage, and motivate all those
who attend to become more physically fit. It will provide children and
key family decision-makers with information and resources to encourage
healthy eating habits and regular physical activity.
Who: Variety in Ontario works with young people with disabilities and
those who face developmental barriers to achieve their life potential.

Why you should attend: A lot has changed in the last 30 years when it
comes to children's fitness and activity levels. For example, on
average, Canadian kids are watching 23 hours of television per week. Only
36 per cent of Canadians under 19 are active enough to maintain proper
cardiovascular health. Furthermore, it is believed that 25 per cent of
Canadian children are obese today - a 55 per cent increase from 15 years
