Media Alert - Red Bull Soapbox Vancouver: the race is on!

VANCOUVER, Sept. 6 /CNW/ - Fifty of Canada's top speed demons will rev
their human-powered engines tomorrow, SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 7th at Red Bull Soapbox
in an all out battle of soapbox joyrides! But speeding down West 4th Avenue is
not the only criteria for victory. Teams have to shift their imaginations into
overdrive because creativity and showmanship are just as important to the
judges as the nuts and bolts!
In case you haven't read the driver's manual, teams of four will race
their homemade cars along a 520 metre long downhill track vying for not only
driving rights but an unforgettable Formula One experience (grand prize), an
ultimate driving day/weekend (second prize) and a day of go-kart racing (third
prize.) And what would this race be without a People's Choice Award? Winners
will be chosen by audience SMS voting.
But that's not all! Adding to the event's excitement will be some notable
personalities including Gordon Campbell, Premier of B.C., Jared Padalecki and
Jensen Ackles of Supernatural who will put their driving skills to the test
for charity. They will go head to head where the winner will receive $1,000 to
donate to the charity of their choice.
Red Bull Soapbox is free to the public, but get there early for a prime
spot! The gates open at 11:00 am with the first head-to-head soapbox race
starting at 1:00 pm the charity races taking place at 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm. For
