SAULT STE. MARIE, ON, Jan. 30 /CNW/ - Tonight's LOTTO 6/49 jackpot is
estimated at $25 million! Players can purchase tickets at OLG retailers until
Ontarians win often, and win big with LOTTO 6/49 - like Larry McAuliffe
of Peterborough and his sister Alycia Heitt of Delta, British Columbia who
claimed a LOTTO 6/49 jackpot of $37.3 million from the January 2, 2008 draw.
Since LOTTO 6/49 was launched in June 1982, Ontario players have won more than
$8 billion in prizes including more than 1,109 jackpot wins.
Consumers are reminded that as of Monday, January 28, 2008 retailers are
not allowed to validate a ticket unless the customer has signed it. Signature
boxes located on the front of all on-line lottery tickets such as LOTTO 6/49
make it easier for customers to remember to sign their tickets at the time of
purchase. With INSTANT tickets, customers should continue to sign the back of
those tickets until a new signature box on the front is introduced for INSTANT
tickets in the coming months. Group players should always identify each group
member with a signature on group play forms to confirm their contribution.
Helpful Group Play forms are available at www.OLG.ca.
It is a provincial offence, punishable by fines, to sell OLG lottery
tickets to anyone under 18 years of age.
OLG is a provincial agency responsible for province-wide lottery games
and gaming facilities. Since 1975, OLG lotteries, Casinos, Slots, and Resort
Casinos have generated more than $23 billion for the benefit of the Province
of Ontario. Gaming proceeds support Ontario's hospitals, amateur sport,
recreational and cultural activities, communities, provincial priority
programs such as health care and education, and local and provincial charities
and non-profit organizations through the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
