Media Alert - Health Council of Canada to Report on Progress of Renewal

    TORONTO, June 2 /CNW/ - Since the federal, provincial and territorial
governments agreed to renew health care - first in 2003 with the Accord on
Health Care Renewal and again in 2004 with the 10-Year Plan to Strengthen
Health Care - billions of dollars have been spent on this national priority.
    But has there been real and lasting progress over the past five years?
    This week, the Health Council of Canada will be releasing its latest
report that examines the speed and direction of tangible changes awaited by
the public.

    WHAT: Rekindling Reform:
          Health Care Renewal in Canada
          2003 to 2008

    WHEN: Wednesday, June 4, 2008
          9 a.m.

    The Council will be issuing a news release and posting the full report, a
summary of the report, and background materials on its website -
    Dr. Don Juzwishin, Chief Executive Officer of the Council, and Dr. Jeanne
