Media Advisory/Photo Opportunity - Mikey on the GO

    TORONTO, Oct. 16, 2008 /CNW/ -

What: GO Transit, in partnership with The Mikey Network and the
Toronto EMS Cardiac Safe City program, will help "The Beat Go
On" by introducing defibrillators on board GO Trains and at
stations. This partnership will place public-access
defibrillators, called MIKEYs, across GO Transit's extensive
network. The use of a defibrillator may save the life of a
person whose heart has stopped beating.

GO Transit carries thousands of passengers each day, and having
easy-to-access defibrillators on board is another way GO is
putting the safety of its passengers first. GO is the first
transit system in the GTA to equip its vehicles and facilities
              with MIKEY defibrillators.

    When: Tuesday, October 21, 2008
              9:30 a.m.
Media event will include a MIKEY defibrillator demonstration.

Where: Union Station, the Great Hall (Bay St. end)
              55 Front St. W., Toronto
Parking is limited. Allow time to find a spot, or take transit.

              - Margarett Best, Minister of Health Promotion
              - Peter Smith, GO Transit Chairman
              - Hugh Heron, Chairman, The Mikey Network
              - Bruce Farr, Chief, Toronto EMS
              - Daniel Terbenche, a sudden cardiac arrest survivor (saved by
