Media Advisory/Photo Opportunity - Kids learn to play it safe at Rail & Road Safety Day

    TORONTO, April 28, 2009 /CNW/ -

    What:        The 12th annual Rail & Road Safety Day gives kids an
                 opportunity to learn safety lessons and adopt the right
                 moves that could save their lives in a variety of

                 Over 400, grade 3 and 4 students will learn about traffic
                 symbols, how to be safe near railway tracks, and the
                 importance of wearing a helmet when biking or rollerblading.
                 Demonstrations, such as fire drills and safe behaviour in
                 emergency situations, are also key components to this
                 interactive day.

                 The Toronto Area Safety Coalition (TASC) and GO Transit are
                 proud to host this event in the middle of both National Rail
                 Safety Public Awareness Week and Injury Prevention Week

    When:        Wednesday, April 29, 2009
                 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Rail & Road Safety Day event
                 Spokespersons from TASC and GO Transit will be available.

    Where:       Union Station, GO Transit concourse
                 Bay St. south of Front St., downtown Toronto
                 Media should report to the school check-in desk across from
                 the GO Customer Service Centre, near Union Station's 140 Bay
                 St. doors

    Who:         Over 400 grade 3 and 4 students
                 Members of TASC, including GO Transit and its mascot GO
                 Bear, Toronto Transit Commission, Sunnybrook Health Sciences
                 Centre, the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto Emergency
                 Medical Services, Toronto Police Service, Toronto Fire
                 Services, Health Canada, Ministry of Transportation, Road
                 Safety Network, Toronto Transportation Services, various
                 public health departments, and more.
