    Groundbreaking publication aims to be "one-stop shopping" for Canadians
    with questions about vision loss

    CALGARY, Oct. 30 /CNW/ - On November 2, Canadians who have questions and
concerns about vision loss will have the answers they need at their fingertips
as CNIB launches a comprehensive new vision health guide aimed at seniors and
    You and Your Vision Health: Yes! Something More Can Be Done is aimed at
the growing number of people across Canada who are living with or caring for
someone with vision loss, and will be launched by CNIB during the Canadian
Association of Gerontologists' annual meeting in Calgary (November 1-3). The
book is the first of its kind in Canada and includes information from
scientific, medical and lay sources, plus feedback from seniors who share what
they wished they had known when first diagnosed. Information on coping with
irreversible vision loss is included alongside risk factors, prevention,
treatment and rehabilitation.
    Dr. Keith Gordon, Director of Research, CNIB and Dr. Deborah Gold,
Associate Director Research, CNIB will unveil details about the publication at
a news conference to be held on November 2 at 12.30 p.m. at The Hyatt Regency
Hotel, Staunton Room 2, 700 Centre Street SE, Calgary. Brenda M. Elias,
Executive Director of the Canadian Association of Gerontology and Joanna
Chatterton, a Calgary resident living with vision loss, will also be on hand
to answer questions. Copies of the book will be made available to the media.
