Media Advisory: Press Conference with Giovanni Bisignani DG & CEO of the International Air Transport Association (IATA)

MONTREAL, Sept. 13 /CNW Telbec/ - Members of the press are cordially
invited to attend a press conference with Giovanni Bisignani, Director General
and CEO of IATA, the global trade association for over 240 international
The press conference will take place on Monday September 17 at 10:30 am
at IATA Montreal headquarters, located at 800 Place Victoria, 11th Floor -
McCurdy meeting room.
A new financial forecast for the world's airlines will be released at the
press conference and Bisignani will review the airline industry's positions on
the major issues to be discussed next week at the triennial Assembly of the
International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Specifically, Bisignani will focus on two issues:

    - Environment: Air transport is an environmentally responsible industry
and few other industries have matched our achievements and investments
in quieter and cleaner technology. However, there is still more work to
be done by the industry and government. Bisignani will outline IATA's
vision for carbon neutral growth and eventually a carbon-free future.
This will only be realized if policy makers join the industry with a
common approach to technology, aircraft operations, infrastructure
      efficiency and economic measures.

    - Security: Aviation security is much improved since 2001, however
passengers continue to face hassles as a result of governments failing
      to harmonize procedures globally.

Mr. Bisignani will be available for comments on all issues including
aviation topics specific to Canada during the question and answer period.
