Media Advisory and Photo Op - Police Association of Ontario Holds Annual General Meeting in York

    TORONTO, Aug. 12 /CNW/ - The Police Association of Ontario (PAO)
representing over 31,000 front-line police personnel will be holding their
75th Annual General Meeting in York Region from August 13 to 17. Approximately
200 delegates from police associations across Ontario will be attending the
    Key issues to be discussed during the week will center on how to ensure
that Ontario communities remain safe.
    The opening ceremonies are open to the media and will include a send-off
for a group of young people who will be taking part in a "Kids, Cops &
Canadian Tire" fishing day at the Ponds Fishing Preserve and Park located at
5206 Queensville Sideroad in Mount Albert. The program allows youngsters from
across Ontario to learn about responsible fishing while developing positive
relationships with police in their community. The media are invited to the
fishing event being held from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm where members of the York
Regional Police Association will be taking sixty young people fishing.
    The Premier of Ontario, the Leader of the Official Opposition and the
Leader of the NDP will be addressing the delegates during the week. Their
sessions will be open to the media in the Grand York Ballroom at the following

    -  Mr. John Tory, Leader of the Official Opposition, Monday, August 13 at
       11:30 am.

    -  Mr. Howard Hampton, Leader of the NDP, Monday, August 13 at 1:30 pm.

    -  The Honourable Dalton McGuinty, Premier of Ontario, Thursday,
       August 16 at 11:30 am.

    The remainder of the business meeting will be a closed session. However,
PAO President Bob Baltin and PAO Chief Administrative Officer Bruce Miller
will be available for comment throughout the week.
