    A Symposium Exploring International Examples, Policies and Practices to
    Deal with Water Scarcity

    CALGARY, Feb. 27 /CNW/ - The Alberta Water Council is hosting a symposium
March 4 and 5 in Calgary, Alberta to help Albertans better understand the
options and opportunities in effectively managing water supplies in a way that
balances social, economic and environment needs.

    The purpose of the symposium is to provide an opportunity to engage with
international experts to obtain information on and to discuss:

    -  Successes and challenges that other jurisdictions have experienced in
       establishing and implementing water allocation transfer systems
    -  The goals, structure and nature of water allocation transfer systems
       and water markets in other jurisdictions
    -  Best management practices and emerging policies, practices and
       technologies in other jurisdictions
    -  Similarities and differences with Alberta's water allocation transfer
