Media Advisory - VANOC to hold teleconference media briefing on Friday, May 1 on rollout of ticketing sales program for the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games

    VANCOUVER, April 30 /CNW/ - At 10:00 a.m. PT on Wednesday, May 6 - less
than a week away - thousands of tickets to the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic
Winter Games will go on sale to the Canadian public through the Vancouver
Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC)
at To explain the ticketing process and help celebrate
the Paralympic Winter Games, VANOC will be holding a number of events open to
the media over the coming days.

    VANOC will hold a teleconference to explain the public process for
purchasing tickets to the Paralympic Winter Games and respond to media
questions. Interested media are asked to call 416-340-8018 or 1-866-225-9256
at 10:00 a.m. PT to take part in the call with Caley Denton, vice president of
ticketing and consumer marketing. A news release outlining the purchasing
process will be issued prior to the call. Television media interested in
interviewing Caley on camera are invited to contact VANOC's media relations
department to set up a time after the call. Images of the new Paralympic

    Paralympic athletes will visit elementary schools next week as part of
VANOC's Paralympic School Days Program. The grassroots program, which allows
children to try out the equipment used by Paralympians and ask questions, will
visit a number of schools in Metro Vancouver and Sea to Sky region this month.

    VANOC will celebrate the 10:00 a.m. official start of ticket sales with a
event open to the media at 12:00 p.m. PT at a location to be confirmed. VANOC
officials will provide ticketing program information, and athletes will be on
hand for interviews and to demonstrate their sports and equipment. Members of
the media will also be able to try their hand using an ice sledge hockey sled
and other Paralympic equipment.
