TORONTO, March 25 /CNW/ -
WHEN: Wednesday, March 26
WHERE: Committee Room 2, Main Legislative Building, Queen's Park
TIME: 2-4 p.m.
WHAT: The provincial government imposed a second moratorium on
competitive bidding in homecare following a protest of 1,500
people in Hamilton in January. There, the community raised
an uproar when the VON and St. Joseph's were eliminated from
bidding for services they had provided for 100 and 80 years
respectively in a secretive and incomprehensible process.
Officials in the Minister of Health's office have been
telling groups that they will make a decision about next
steps regarding the moratorium in the next few weeks.
