Media Advisory - Toronto Students Learn Recycling Is Cool - Literally!

    TORONTO, June 12 /CNW/ -

Ever wonder what happens to your old, inefficient appliances? The garbage
or "blue bin" is not the end of the line - far from it! The Grade Five
students of Eglinton Junior Public School are about to get a very "cool"
first-hand recycling experience: join the students - and members of the
school's Eco Club - as they watch a live demonstration of an old,
inefficient room air conditioner (RAC) going through the process of
    decommission and recycling.

Watch as Ivan Flood from Total Home Comfort - in partnership with Toronto
Hydro-Electric System and the Clean Air Foundation - shows the students:
        - How a RAC gets taken apart once it's returned for recycling
        - What happens to the metals and plastic
        - Examples of items that are made from the recycled material
        - A visual storyboard illustrating the recycling process

The Clean Air Foundation and Toronto Hydro in partnership with The Home
Depot have collected more than 18,700 old, inefficient RACs in Toronto
since 2005. As part of its efforts to spur Toronto into "green" action
this month, Toronto Hydro is encouraging residents to take advantage of
the Keep Cool program, which provides $25 and $10 Home Depot gift cards
to participants who turn in their old, inefficient RACs and
dehumidifiers. This year Keep Cool is part of Toronto Hydro's Count Me In
Toronto campaign. For more information, please visit
