VALCARTIER GARRISON, QC, Aug. 27 /CNW Telbec/ - One hundred eighteen
soldiers of Joint Task Force Afghanistan (JTF AFG) Rotation 4 will go join
their colleagues in Afghanistan this Tuesday, August 28, to take part in a
mission that aims to bolster security and reconstruction efforts. From that
number, forty-four soldiers come from Valcartier, whereas fifty-seven come
from Edmonton (Alb.) and seventeen from Petewawa (Ont.).
Media representatives are invited to meet Valcartier soldiers and their
families while they are all gathered at the Valcartier Garrison on August 28,
between 4:30 P.M. and 5:15 P.M., before their departure for Jean Lesage
International Airport. As for the soldiers coming from the West of Canada,
they will wait at the Airport until the arrival of Valcartier soldiers for
This flight is the 23rd since June 15, witch will complete the deployment
of JTF AFG ROTO 4 troops on afghan soil.
The Canadian Forces' contribution in Afghanistan, represented by JTF AFG,
consists of approximately 2,500 CF members who belong to units from different

This represents the 4th rotation of Canadian troops in Afghanistan since
OPERATION ATHENA began in Kandahar, in July 2006, hence the term JTF AFG

the strip of Jean Lesage International Airport. However, they will be able to
