Media Advisory - Team Visa Olympian and National Skeleton Athlete Share Budgeting Basics With Students

VANCOUVER, Feb. 6 /CNW/ - Sir Charles Tupper Secondary School hosts
launch of student-focused financial literacy resource, Choices & Decisions:
Taking Charge of Your Financial Life.

WHAT: Launch of Choices & Decisions: Taking Charge of Your Financial
Life, an in-school financial literacy resource that helps
educators teach money management to today's students.

WHO: To mark the release of the revised Choices & Decisions resource,
Paralympian Ian Balfour and Jeff Pain of the national Skeleton
team will speak candidly with students about the challenges of
being an elite athlete; including how they manage their financial
challenges and how good money management is a key contributor to
their success both in their sport and daily life.

Ian Balfour is a Paralympic athlete with a World Championship
Alpine Skiing title, several Canadian championships and three
Paralympic Games under his belt. As a Team Visa mentor, Ian shares
his leadership and experiences with other Team Visa Olympians.

Jeff Pain is a member of Canada's national Skeleton team, and has
won nearly every title available in his sport. As a multiple World
Cup champion, a two-time World Champion and Olympic silver
medalist, Jeff is now focused on earning Olympic gold at the 2010
           Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.

WHY: According to a 2008 Youthography(TM) poll commissioned by Visa,
secondary school students from across Canada felt confident about
managing money, yet only one third had created or maintained a
           budget.

To help students make important decisions and take control of
their finances, Visa Canada has revised Choices & Decisions:
Taking charge of your financial life; an in-class teaching
resource designed to help educate students about loans, banking
services, saving and investing, credit cards and budgeting.
Choices & Decisions has been approved by the British Columbia
           Ministry of Education.
