OTTAWA, Jan. 8 /CNW Telbec/ - Strike activities will take place at the
Parkdale entrance to Tunney's Pasture during the morning hours of Wednesday,
Thursday and Friday January 9, 10 and 11, 2008.
The Commissionaires who provide security services at the Health Canada
buildings at Tunney's Pasture, and at other locations, have been on strike for
eight weeks. They currently earn $12.25 an hour and their employer -- the
Corps of Commissionaires -- wants to reduce their salaries even more.
The Commissionaires will be conducting information pickets this week to
inform the public about the strike issues at Tunney's Pasture from Parkdale
Motorists bound for Tunney's Pasture are invited to use alternate
entrances such as Scott Street, Sir Frederic Banting Drive and the Parkway.
