Media Advisory - Sept. 24-26 - "Taking it to the Streets": Ontario's EMS leaders meet to improve pre-hospital care and transportation

    LONDON, ON, Sept. 19 /CNW/ - With the theme, "Taking it to the Streets",
the Association of Municipal Emergency Medical Services of Ontario (AMEMSO)
and the Ontario Base Hospital Group (OBHG) will hold a joint conference at the
London Convention Centre, September 24-26, 2008.
    AMEMSO is the provincial organization of the leaders of municipal
Emergency Medical Services in Ontario and the Base Hospital Group represents
the physicians and their support staff entrusted to provide medical oversite
and quality assurance to municipal ambulance services.
    The focus of the Conference is, "How to make ambulance vehicles safer for
patients and paramedics". The Conference highlight will be a formal gala, held
to celebrate conspicuous bravery and exemplary service by Paramedics. A huge
tradeshow will showcase the latest in EMS vehicles and equipment.

    The following events are scheduled at the London Convention Centre:

       Sept. 24, 2:10 p.m. - Dr. Nadine Levick, international leader in EMS
       Safety, will speak on "Safety inside the Ambulance Box".

       Sept. 25, 10:45 a.m. - Innovations in EMS Education is the topic
       presented by Dr. Mike Lewell of the London Health Sciences Centre;
                 1 p.m. - the Alberta example demonstrating how the role of
       EMS has been expanded in healthcare will be presented by the Palliser
       Health Region of Alberta.
                 7 p.m. - Three paramedics will accept the McNally award of
       Bravery for demonstrating exceptional courage in the line of duty.
       Andy Oudman, London Radio News and Talk Show host will present the
       awards and also act as MC for the Gala Awards Banquet. Major General
       Richard Rohmer will present the Governor General's EMS Exemplary
       Service Medals to 125 paramedics across the province.

       Sept. 26 - 8:30 a.m. Hilton Hotel - Presentation of cheques to
       Children's Wish Foundation and Children's Hospital of Western Ontario
       representing the proceeds of the charity golf tournament and silent
