TORONTO, July 16 /CNW/ - The inaugural RBC Canadian Open promises to
deliver a brand new golf experience, and the following event schedule is
intended to ensure media don't miss out on the excitement leading up to the
tournament which is being held at Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ontario.
RBC Canadian Open Million Dollar ShootOut
Polson Pier (formerly the Docks)
The public is invited to hit a 165-yard shot to an authentic floating
island green in the Toronto Harbour for a chance to win $1,000,000. During
qualifying rounds, participants will compete for a chance to be closest to the
pin and qualify as a finalist. Then, the top 100 qualifiers will advance to
the shootout finals for their chance to be one of the lucky 10 who shoot for a
hole-in-one and the $1,000,000 prize.
A trip to Club Med and a 2 year lease on a BMW 1 series are also part of
the prize pool.

The SCOREGolf Awards honour the best of Canadian golf and golfers -
including Canada's top touring pros, amateurs, and club professionals - many
of whom will be in attendance. The gala event will kick off RBC Canadian Open
tournament week and feature an awards show, dinner, and post-show
entertainment provided by The Jim Cuddy Band. Head table guests include RBC
CEO Gord Nixon, 2003 Masters champion Mike Weir, and 2007 Canadian Amateur
champion Nick Taylor.

RBC and the RCGA welcome the stars of the PGA Tour to Glen Abbey Golf
Club. PGA veterans including two-time defending champion Jim Furyk, fan
favourites Fred Couples and Mark Calcavecchia and Canadian contenders Mike
Weir and Stephen Ames will compete against the PGA Tour's hottest rising
stars, including fifth-ranked Anthony Kim, Boo Weekley and Camilo Villegas in
a four-day showdown for Canada's national golf championship, the second oldest
stop on the PGA Tour.

Canada's top musical acts perform on a stage that will transform the golf
course into an open-air concert venue.
