Media Advisory - Québec 400th: A work of art by Isabelle Laverdière to tell the St. Lawrence story

QUEBEC, June 2 /CNW Telbec/ - For the very first time in this country, a
work of visual art has been created to tell the story of an aspect of the City
of Québec's naval and military history, as part of the festivities surrounding
the 400th.
From the very start in 1608, the St. Lawrence has been at the heart of
Canadian naval history. Once again, the Naval Museum of Québec wishes to
innovate in the field of military museology. It has thus given artist Isabelle
Laverdière the mandate to create a work of art that would be her
interpretation of the exchanges between enemy sailors through the centuries.
Visitors will literally enter the artist's creation, experiencing the
atmospheres recreated in an original vision of events. This is an exhibition
where naval history becomes a sensory experience!
The Naval Museum of Québec is proud to invite all members of the media to
come experience the LE REFECTOIRE exhibition, and to meet with Isabelle
Laverdière, an artist from Québec, who will be available to introduce her work
and for interviews.

The inauguration will take place on
                       Thursday June 5, 2008, at 5 p.m.
at the Wardroom of the Pointe-à-Carcy Naval Complex
                           144, Dalhousie (Québec)

We will also be available for individual members of the press
for interviews with the artist and picture-taking of the work of art
               Wednesday June 4, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
