Media Advisory - Polytechnique Montreal hosts international workshop to foster development of "Fly-by-Wireless" aerospace technology

    MONTREAL, June 8 /CNW Telbec/ - Industry and government representatives
from Canada, the United States and Europe will meet in Montreal, June 8 - 10,
for the 2009 CANEUS "Fly-by-Wireless" (FBW) Workshop. The meeting is the
latest step in ongoing efforts to stimulate the formation of FBW consortia and
working groups in which member organizations would derive significant mutual
benefits and identify projects having a high potential for funding.
    To reduce wire weight, and improve the reliability and performance of
aerospace vehicles, FBW technology focuses on minimizing the use of cables and
connectors by providing reliable, low-cost, high-performance alternatives.
Areas to be examined at the meeting include: structural health monitoring;
passive wireless sensor tag; sensor data acquisition micro-miniaturization;
immunity of wireless systems to an electromagnetic environment; and less-wire
    Among delegates and presenters at the workshop are representatives from:
Bombardier Aerospace, Industry Canada, U.S. Air Force, Stanford University, GE
Global Research, Defence Research and Development Canada, Pratt & Whitney
