Media Advisory - Photo/Video Op - Education Week Kicks Off With "Magical" Book Launch By Toronto Area Students

-Malvern Town Centre Hosts Over 100 Grade 4 - 6 Student Authors-

TORONTO, April 30 /CNW/ - A rich tradition of writing is set to continue
as Canada's youngest authors take centre stage with the exciting launch of
Family Magic: A Story Retold, a collection of true tales from Toronto area
students launching on Monday, April 30, 2007. In honour of the start of
Education Week and to celebrate this excellent achievement, Malvern Town
Centre will host the young authors as well as over 100 of their classmates,
amid a backdrop of live performances and displays. Malvern Town Centre has
also invited four outstanding authors to conduct workshops for the young
students, giving the budding writers the opportunity to learn from seasoned
veterans about how they have found success in the joys of writing.
For the book, Family Magic: A Story Retold, students were asked to write
about an event that was passed on to them by a member of their family. Through
the encouragement of parents, grandparents and extended family, a 50-page book
was created, which will be on sale through the Toronto District School Board
NE4 Family of Schools. All proceeds from the sale of the book will go to
school libraries. "We are so proud to be sponsoring this great event that
encourages the whole family to be involved in children's education," said Mary
Anne Cogger, Marketing Director of Malvern Town Centre. "We wanted to reward
these kids for all their hard work, and encourage them to continue with their
literary endeavours."
